This year we're screening shorts across different genres, countries, themes, budget and filmmaker experience to provide a diverse and rounded representation of the filmmaking talent out there. Shorts will support the feature films being screened but we will also be screening blocks of films representing different areas of filmmaking:

REGIONAL FILMS - the best of films made in Sheffield and the surrounding Yorkshire area, showcasing the talent working in the region

BEST OF SHOWROOM SHORTS - Showroom Shorts is a monthly film night that The South Yorkshire Filmmakers' Network has been programming for ten years here in Sheffield. Today at SOIFF enjoy some of the best shorts from 2021-2022; there’s comedy, drama, horror, animation and more: don’t miss it! Curated by SYFN director Rob Speranza. More about Showroom Shorts here:

BEST OF FILM HUB NORTH -  Curated by Film Hub North Outreach & Events Officer Amy Hemmer, this selection of short films showcases the very best of our BFI Network funded shorts from across the North. Attendees will have the opportunity to chat with the BFI NETWORK team about the support available through Film Hub North. It’s a great opportunity to meet the growing community of local filmmakers, and support exciting work from emerging UK talent.

EMERGING SPIRIT SCRIPT TO SCREEN COMPETITION - our inaugural Emerging Spirit competition comes to a conclusion with the world premiere of Dead Skin, written and directed by Ciara O'Rourke

FILMMAKERS OF THE FUTURE - we continue our support of the BFI Film Academy through the screening of the two films made in the last Sheffield based academy
